Idaho Rush SOccer Club

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The RDL Program is available to all players from U9 to U19.

Rush Developmental Teams are formed by Birth Year to fall in line with US Youth Soccer’s Mandate. RDL Age Groups are split into eight age categories: U9, U10, U11, U12, U13, U15.

For the 2024 / 2025 season we will be adding U17 & U19 as a gender pure age groups. These teams will play in the local external league in the fall and 1 external tournament. This is something new that we are going to be offering this year as an alternative to our Coed option.

It is important to understand what the RDL program is.

It is not competitive it’s still a recreation-based program, which means parent-volunteer coaches, 50 percent playing time rules, no out-of-town travel, teams formed by geographic areas, practices held in your neighborhood and games played in Boise.

However, we start to add elements of competitive soccer, we keep scores and standings, there are paid referees (who are also developing and learning). There is an in-house local tournament at the end of the fall season and entry into the Rush Recreational Invitational Tournament in the spring, also the training schedule is less rigorous than competitive soccer.

The RDL program is designed to be a year-round program. Teams are formed during the summer and will stay together for the fall and spring seasons

U17 and U19 teams in the fall are offered for the players that do not play high school soccer but want to keep playing and have limited options to do so. These teams will also form in the summer for the fall and spring season.

• The RDL Program is a very important part of Idaho Rush. It can be used as a stepping-stone into our competitive program for those that are interested or ideal for players that want to play soccer and learn and develop at their own pace allowing the player to keep playing all the way through High School.

• RDL is designed to give players the opportunity to play MORE soccer without the cost and travel of Competitive, and create opportunities to play against other local recreational team

• Did I mention the RDL tournament to end each fall and spring season? At no extra cost and no travel.

•  The RDL program operates between Simplot Youth Sports Complex (majority of games played here in the fall) and Optimist Youth Sports Complex in Boise (majority of games played here in the spring)

NEW for the 2024 / 2025 season - We are going to add the option for each age group to put together a boys and girls All Star Team that can enter local external local tournaments in the fall this would be the Gem State Tournament or the BTT tournament, and in the spring Directors Cup or the spring BTT Tournament (additional costs apply). For those players that want to have a greater challenge and a taste of competitive soccer without the significant cost and commitment.

All in all the Developmental program provides an incredible soccer experience, with more than 20 games played a year and guaranteed playing time for all offering sensational value to those players that this program is the best fit for.

SEASON AND GAMES

Developmental U9-U15 teams will play together through both a fall and spring season. Teams in the U17 and U19 age groups play separate fall and spring seasons.

Games for the fall season generally begin the Saturday after Labor Day and run through the end of October with the RDL in house tournament the first weekend into November. The spring season generally begins in the middle of March and runs through to the middle of May.

Pre-season practices for both seasons may begin as soon as two-three weeks before the first game, depending upon the readiness of your coach and team to begin practice.

Generally there is one game per week and games are almost always on Saturdays (until tournament week). Due to limited field space, a team may play one weeknight games and or a double header on a Saturday.

Location of games for the Developmental seasons alternate from North West to South East locations as a rule however the majority of games in the fall games are played at the Simplot Soccer Complex with some taking place at Optimist Sports Complex, and the reverse happening in the spring most games at at Optimist and a few at Simplot. The tournament in the fall is at Simplot Soccer Complex and the spring tournament is at Optimist.

Because our membership is made up of players and teams from all over the valley, Idaho Rush Soccer Club see the value in alternating game locations so that members have the opportunity to play closer to home, and we are working to accommodate a limited number of games in the alternate location (optimist fall / Simplot spring) if that location is a better fit for your team.

All coaches, team managers and assistant referees are parent volunteers. Each team fills those three positions from the team parent pool or finds someone other than a parent to fill the positions. If the team cannot find volunteers to fill the positions, the team will be disbanded with no refunds issued.

U9-U14 Developmental Overview

PURPOSE:

The Rush Development League (RDL) provides mid-level competitive play while developing players, coaches and referees without the additional costs and commitment of time required by highly competitive leagues, that are committed to travel events and tournaments. There is no travel out of town, although some travel in the Boise metro area for practices and games may be required. Players are guaranteed 50 percent playing time during the season and tournament play. The opportunity to play in external local tournaments also exists for those players that want to experience that challenge.
