 GAME LOCATIONS

The Recreation program is for beginning soccer players or kids who want to play without the pressure of winning. It is a non-competitive program, meaning we do not keep scores or standings, teams do not travel and there are no extra fees for referees, coaching, etc. The focus is on teaching players the fundamental skills of the game. Families may choose to participate in either the fall or spring seasons, or both. The fall season generally begins shortly after Labor Day, and the spring season generally begins the first week of April. Teams usually play six games over the course of seven to eight weeks. Practices are limited to no more than twice a week at no more than an hour at a time. Practices generally begin two weeks before the first game.

Teams

Idaho Rush is the Treasure Valley's answer to soccer. With registrants in the Boise, Eagle and Meridian areas, we are able to randomly form teams that allow players to meet new friends and reduce the atmosphere of competition. The intent of the Recreation program is to try to make practice and game locations as convenient as possible. Teams are formed by age and gender based on the public elementary school nearest the players home. Teams should practice at or near the school they are named after. Game locations are in east Boise, west Boise and (Eagle - Spring Only)

For carpooling reasons and to keep siblings together, players may request to be rostered with ONE other player of the same age group. Teams are formed randomly and will change from season to season.

Players registering after the posted deadlines are rostered on a space-available basis, which may mean a player will be assigned to a team outside their geographic area.

Age groups

Based on their age as of Sept. 1, players are based into five age categories: U6, U7, U8 and U10. (Note that the "U" stands for "Under". Therefore, if your child is 8 on Sept. 1, he will be a U10 player because he is no longer under 8.) Players must be 5 years old by Sept. 1 to be placed on a team. The Recreation program has both boys and girls teams, although in rare cases girls have played on boys teams at the request of the parents. Boys may not play on girls teams.

Parents and volunteers

All coaches, referees, team coordinators and other officials and administrators are volunteers. Each team must supply a coach, referee and team coordinator from the team parent pool or find someone other than a parent to fill the positions. Training is available for all positions. If the team cannot find volunteers to fill the positions, the team will be disbanded with no refunds issued.
