Two Idaho Rush Players advance in Regional Olympic Development Program

Skyler and Justus Kjellander were selected to the final pool for the 99 Boys Region IV Olympic Development Team.   The boys are among 30 players from 13 western states that achieved this honor.  They were selected at the Regional Pool Camp in Oregon earlier this summer.

The Kjellander twins competed for slots on the regional team against 60 players that were preselected for the regional camp.  During the four day residential camp at Linfield College, the brothers participated in multiple training sessions and competed against some of the best soccer players in the region.  When the final team list was announced, Skyler and Justus were both selected for their performance as outside backs.

Skyler has played in the left back position for his Rush Club team for several years, but through most of the camp was being utilized as a striker/midfielder.  On the final day of the camp he was moved to the left back slot where he ultimately impressed the coaches.   Justus, who seldom saw action as an outside back during club play, adapted quickly to the right back slot and his performance in this role earned him the nod for the regional team honor.

Both Kjellander boys look forward to call-ups for regional team matches that will be scheduled later this winter.  Competition at the regional team level will give the twins a chance to be reviewed for the national pool, and perhaps gain some international playing experience.

Skyler and Justus play for the Rush U16 Boys Competitive team coached by Jens Haustein.  The brothers were joined at the regional pool camp with two other players from their Rush Club team.  Matt Belisle (98 Boys), Rowan Pierson (99 Boys), and Brandon Bob (99 Boys) also attended the camp.

On behalf of the entire Rush coaching staff and club we want to congratulate Skyler and Justus for their achivement.
