Idaho Rush Soccer Club
Directors Cup 2013
May 18-19  *  Boise, Idaho

Academy teams from the Select program won two titles at the annual IYSA Director's Cup to go along with championships from the Competitive program at U11 and U12. In all, Idaho Rush teams brought home top honors in six different divisions. The Elite Academy teams are made up of players in the Select program who played week in and week out with their regular Select teams, but attended special additional training led by Rush professional staff. Most of those players will advance to full Competitive teams next fall.

Girls U10-Elite Academy White Silver-West Division  CHAMPIONS
The girls had their shooting boots on for the first two tournament games on Saturday, beating Nationals-Dynamo 4-3 and Nampa Select-Tximist 4-2 in their first games in a non-Recreational environment. The two wins got them into the final against Fury-Storm. The championship game was a closer affair, but Rush still came out on top 2-1.

Boys U10-Elite Academy Blue Silver-West Division  CHAMPIONS
Not to be outdone, the boys U10 Elite Academy team rolled their four games of the tournament on the strength of a goal-scoring frenzy and stingy defending. Their run started with a 6-1 thrashing of FC Boise, before beating their club brethren 4-2 later that afternoon. Sunday morning saw the closest game of the tournament for the boys, a 4-3 in over Crossfire of Caldwell. Rush secured the trophy with an 11-0 win over Nationals that put them top of the table in the round-robin format.

Girls U11-Black  Gold Division  CHAMPIONS
It was pins and needles all weekend for the U11-Black team as they won four consecutive one-goal games to win it all. The girls started with a tight 1-0 win over FC Nova-Grey on Friday evening before getting their goal-scoring issues solved for Saturday's 4-3 win over Torrent, which put them into the final. There was no room for error Sunday morning, as Nationals-Santos took them to the wire in a 4-3 win.

Girls U10-Blue U11 Silver Division CHAMPION
It was an all-Rush final as the U10-Blue team won playing up a year. The girls started right with a 3-0 win over Fury-Strikers on Friday evening, before getting past Nova-Black 5-1 Saturday afternoon. With a spot in the finals on the line, Rush put away Crossfire-Black 4-2 Sunday morning to set up an afternoon final against Rush-Grey, which gained the final behind a draw and two wins. The Blue team was too much, though, cruising to a 5-0 win in the championship match.

Boys U11-Blue  Silver Division CHAMPIONS
The boys secured their first tournament win in an all-Rush final. The U11-Blue team was formed by combining players from two Select teams during the winter off-season and was playing in its first competitive tournament. The boys got a pair of one-goal wins on Saturday, 1-0 over Arsenal-Unknowns and 2-1 over PVSC-Fire. The two wins put them in the final against a Rush U10 team playing up an age group. The size and experience of the U11 teams won out in the end, as the boys won 2-1.

Boys U12-Blue/Grey U13 Silver Division  CHAMPIONS
The boys played in a combined U12/U13 age group, but still managed to come out on top. They started with an easy 4-1 win over FC Boise, then outlasted Fury-Adi Pure 2-1 to claim a spot in the final where they would face Nampa Select-Vipers. Nampa had rolled through their three group-stage games outscoring their opponents 8-0. But they hadn't seen the likes of the Rush boys, who won 3-2.
