Well over 100 players, parents and coaches turned out on Saturday to help four homeowners get their lawns ready for winter as part of the annual Rake Up Boise. The volunteers raked up nearly 200 bags of leaves at the homes of four elderly Bench residents as a community service project.
"This is one of the most rewarding events we do all year," said project coordinator Mark French. "The homeowners really appreciate the help and it's a fun way for our players to give back to the community. The people who come out always go home with a smile on their face."
Each program at Idaho Rush -- Recreation, Select, Competitive-Girls and Competitive-Boys -- did a house on their own. The Competitive-Girls had the biggest turnout, which is good because they also had the largest yard with the most leaves -- over 50 bags in all!
This is fourth year Idaho Rush has particiapted in Rake Up Boise.
